A couple of months ago I had TalkTalk at my front door offering me full fibre. I had to turn it down as I had a contract with Shell Broadband. Phoned Shell, they said I couldn't have fibre, but would get back to me within the week. Mhm.
Fast forward a couple of Months and TalkTalk has consumed Shell Broadband and I have finally been migrated. I go to my account and hit the upgrade button for Fibre. At last! A few questions later and it tells me there is no fibre at my location!
I should add, last year I physically watched workmen lay fibre cables under the pavement along our gable end. Yet Openreach says no. Apparently 96% of my local city has fibre, and I can actually throw stones at the exchange from our window. Not kidding. That was a big reason for moving here.
We are confused and frustrated. A half hour in TalkTalk chat did not help.
So why is TalkTalk offering me fibre if there is (amazingly) no fibre at this location? Or is there? And if not, how do I get an idea of how long it might be before there is.

Hi MySonsDad
Sorry for the confusion, I can confirm that Fibre is not available in your area at the moment.
Unfortunately we don't get a schedule when it will become available either.
Apologies again.

I suspect the problem is that there simply isn't the capacity available at present, regardless of the fact that it is available in your area.
