Landline phone problem

Please can somebody help.

Since yesterday, our landline is dead. We are unable to dial out or receive calls. I have plugged in a conventional phone and the problem is the same. There is no dial tone when the receiver, on the conventional phone, is picked up. The internet is working fine and our broadband speeds are their usual excellent levels.

Good afternoon,

A BIG thank you to all who have helped. Our landline was restored at noon today. Openreach obviously sorted the problem out at the exchange..

Thank you for this reply. I have just been in Chat with TalkTalk for the last 3 hours. They have booked an Openreach engineer to look at this problem. Plugging in to the master socket did not restore my landline, only the pips as the dialed number went through. No dialing tone or ringing tone on the handset nor on the dialed mobile phone. Thanks again.

Assuming that you are not on Full Fibre, what happens if you move the phone handset & router via a known good microfilter to the test socket? This socket is located behind the master socket's removable faceplate (if you have that design).
