People cannot hear me talking on the phone, intermittently (1 in 3 calls). I can hear them
Line check for home phone said "Our diagnostic tool picked up on a potential issue but to help us understand what’s going on you’ll need to run a more in depth line test."
Did that and eventually got an email message that they didn't find anything, and to post here (I think) if there was a problem.
Any ideas what I should do? I do not have access to another physical phoneset, so cannot swap.
Thanks

Thanks for responding Chris; apologies for a delayed response. Basically I haven't had many calls, but I had planned to unplug the router and then ring myself to see if the problem persisted (which would mean you couldn't blame the router.) I'm sure the router would have been a red herring, involving lots of my time, wasted.
However I saw OpenReach working nearby and since then the issue has not re-appeared. So I'm thinking that I was right, that the fault was outside my control/property. Maybe others in the street had the same problem and their supplier quickly called in Openreach as the most likely solution.

Hi drking,
How many telephone sockets do you have? Is your router currently connected to your test socket?

The phoneset is a base station with 2 phones. The problem happens with both phones, so it's unlikely to be them. But it might I suppose be the base station. However it has all the hallmarks of a line/exchange problem - for example someone phoned me today and had ' a terrible line' - they phoned back and at once the line was good for the whole call - same phoneset and base station. If there was an intermittent issue with my phones, they'd almost certainly be inconsistent during a call. This surely looks like one of the components at the exchange being faulty.
I accept it is hard to find.

Hi
Line tests are ok at the moment, I've had a look t voltage and resistance levels across the line and all levels are fine, so nothing stands out.
Are you able to test another handset to make sure it is not at fault.
Thanks
Karl.
