4K BOX RECORDING PROBLEM
on 28-12-2024 11:08 AM

Hi
My 4k box has decided to dump 'future' programmed recordings. It has retained recordings already recorded (on the stick - only half full!) and will record a program which is starting. I programmed a few future recordings which showed up as usual under the 'last recorded programmes'. However they have disappeared!
Tried this few times and they just vanish. Checked cables, rebooted incoming hub box, rebooted 4k box, TV working ok and plays recorded programmes from 4k box.
It is all a mystery! Why suddenly go wrong?
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi
If you start your own thread (new message), we’d love to help.
We’ve found that posting in someone else’s conversation makes it harder to follow when looking for an answer.
It’s easier and quicker if we can chat with you in a single thread, if you start your own thread, that will keep our community organised and help others with a similar problem.
Check your home phone number or account number are also added to your Community Profile as that will really help us to find your details quicker.
Thanks
Karl

I have the same problem.after I do a reboot the box works for a week or so, then stops scheduled recording.
I have had a new box sent to me and still the problem persists.
I use a 32 GB usb stick and it has worked perfectly before,so I do not believe it to be the problem.
Talk talk do not have a solution.
Maybe time to try a new supplier?

Can you try and record something that is on now and leave it to the end of the programme. Please record at least half an hour of a show.
Does this disappear?
What size usb fo you have?
Where did you purchase it from? eBay? Amazon 3rd party seller?
If so you may have bought a fake and the actual capacity is lower than you expected, and it has reached it's capacity and has no room for more, despite what the stats say. It a common thing that happens with these. I got conned too.
If that's the case I suggest watching what you need to and use catch-up for those you can.
If you remove the usb stick it's content will no longer be accessible if you reinsert it.
Purchase one from a local supermarket but also be aware the larger the stick the longer it takes to format it for use. Even though they say the box will accommodate a 1tb stick, other customers have found these fk not work. A 256gb is the recommended size.
Even if you did previously purchase from a reliable source it sounds like the drive a developed a fault and reformating is the only option, but you will lose all recordings on it.
Sorry it's so long winded but hope this helps.
Ps there are free programmes you can download that will format the drive and then write data to test the actual capacity.. a Google search should bring these up.
