Hi everyone. Had a problem at the start of last week with my YouView set top box. After a whole day of pratting around, I finally got to live chat with someone in tech who confirmed our box was, indeed, goosed and for the princely sum of £25 they would send me a new one within 24-48 hours (as our TV is pretty old, doesn't have Freeview and so cannot watch TV without it). Annoying when we do pay for TalkTalk TV so have to pay for new equipment to watch something we pay for - but hey ho, that's a separate grip. Now well over this time limit, no new box, we haven't been charged for one on the upcoming bill, no communication from TalkTalk to confirm the order of a new box and now I can't find the live chat again. I have called them, but I still can't get to speak to someone (can't get past the automated service). Does anyone know how I can just order one and pay for it as I'm seriously starting to lose patience?

@Granddad81, I believe staff were replying to the previous poster, but you have both started chatting on a very old thread.
It pops up in the staff workflow, therefore, as this is a help board.
If you do need support for your service, please start a new thread, as and when....
Otherwise it causes confusion in the topic and isn't always clear which problem is being addressed. Usually staff will only reply to the original poster of the topic.

I’m sorry but I don’t understand. The replacement your view talktalk boxes enables you to get ITV X but you can’t record with it, only do catch up. I had a new box but sent it back as didn’t have record facilities.

Thanks

If you have a SMART TV, I believe we can insert a dongle/memory stick? I er forget which 🙂 but in all honesty, not having recording ability is IMH&SO a major step back.

The new boxes talk talk provide can’t record. When mine packs up will consider buying a. Box and cancelling talk talk to. The only advantage of the new talk talk box gives access to ITV x

Fortunately I'm in the same position, in that my box also still works MOST of the time, and obviously still has the ability to record...most of the time. I have also noticed recently it (the picture I'm watching) has started to freeze, so I guess the box is breaking down.
It will be interesting to see if the new box is going to have a better picture, as my new TV is a 4K 144Hz, not that I found the picture quality an issue, but better is...well, better.
Handy (yet sorry) to hear you also have recording failures, what a pain, eh.

Fortunately my old box is still working, though some recordings fail.

Ah yes, communicating with TalkTalk eh, even (it would seen) via this platform.
Over the past 2 days I have been on the phone some 3+ hours, and passed to 3 different people via Live Chat.
It would have helped if, when transfered (via the phone, as "Live Chat" take the time to read notes) the person passing me on had bothered to explain to the NEW guy, what it was all about, then maybe, JUST maybe I wouldn't of had to go through the SAME ol S**t, like a broken record.
My current box? a DN370T is discontinued, and refuses to accept that I AM connected to the internet for SOME channels (269 FILM STREAM,and upon testng? 266 through to 270) all carry the same message on a blue screen "Connect your Freeview device to the internet for more great free TV" And yet all the Apps (iPlayer, Amazon Prime etc) work just fine, and I have confirmed (via the settings of the box) that I am connecte, a "wired" connection noless.
I also have had issues with "failed to record" a REAL PITA if say, recording a series, and say 2 & 5 (of a 5 series set) fail
Oh well, today I'm told I'm being sent a new box FOC (yesterday they were gonna charge me...NOT) but it was confirmed it (the new box) will not record. Ummm, a box that doesn't record is progress TT? sounds like a step in reverse ter me.
Oh well, I think I may pop over to TRUSTPILOT later, I can do with a laugh.

Be aware that the new box does NOT have record facility, as I have found out

Hi
If you give our customer teams a call they can add a 4K TV Box. There may be a small charge initially for the box, and they will change your current package to include TalkTalk entertainment, this replaces the old TV charge.

Hi Karl
Sorry, but you haven't really read the original. I'm eligible for a 4K box for a cost of £25 and if I could actually get to speak to someone I would - I have tried, but with no luck. So, sorry your answer isn't really that helpful. Thanks anyway.

Hi
TalkTalk no longer issue the older youview boxes and now provide the new TalkTalk 4K TV box.
Depending on your current package and contract you may be eligible to have one of these new boxes added to your contract.
Give our customer Teams a call and ask if you can have one of the new TalkTalk 4K TV boxes.
Thanks
Karl.
