New TV hub and Sonos

I recently renewed my Talktalk account and got a new TV hub.
But when I connected it, I lost the connection with my Sonos soundbar. The Sonos app says that the new hub is blocking access to the soundbar.
Is there a fix for this, or do I have to go back to the old TV box?

Hi Michelle,
Sorry for the delay in replying.
I don't have a returns bag - if one could be sent out to me that would be great.
Thanks
Rik

Morning,
The TV box would need to be returned to us if it's no longer of any use. Have you received a returns bag?
Thanks
Michelle

Hi @Rikbie sorry we couldn't help you get this sorted. I would hold onto the new box, however, as Talktalk are likely to request its return.

Thanks for your help @Karl-TalkTalk @Divsec . I've plugged the old TalkTalk box back in and everything is working fine. I'm afraid I can't be bothered to persevere with the new box. It'll go to the recycling centre.

Hi @Rikbie how are you getting on? I use the optical connection directly between TV and sonos

Hmm, well when I look at the back of the boxes, there doesn't seem to be an option for anything other than an HDMI ARC connection. I reconnected the old TV hub and it's working fine again. Seems to be a "feature" of the later hub that it blocks the access. One of the HDMI slots in the TV box is specifically for the sound input - if you try connecting the soundbar by any other slot it tells you to use the ARC slot.

That's a really good point from @Karl-TalkTalk it sounds to me as thought you might have a very nice Samsung TV and I connect my Sonos soundbar via optical and it works fine.

Hi
The TV will usually only operate one HDMI port that is connected, usually you would connect the sound output from the TV to a sound bar via an optical out cable, does the soundbar not have input for an optical cable ?
Thanks
Karl.

I have a smart TV with its own box. The TV hub connects to it with one HDMI cable. The Sonos connects to it with another HDMI cable.
