Constantly rebooting 8041W - kernel panic

Daily reconnections are now turning into hourly, making working impossible.  I've been through the long winded phone call with support, knowing full well none of the things they suggested was the problem.  Then noticed in the user log lot of reconnections following kernel panic.  I also noticed plenty have had this problem and it seems to be resolved by an upgrade to firmware v1.06.  Message for Talk talk i guess - can this firmware be pushed to my router?
