No broadband; now no phone line

Broadband dropped AGAIN yesterday. Red flashing light on the router.

In trying to follow instructions to use the test socket I think I've now damaged it because I can't get the faceplate back on properly and have no phone line as a result.

The "live chat" button doesn't work.

The website says "You can also get in touch by calling our support line: 0345 172 0028." Except I can't, because that number is no longer valid.

I'm nearly 80 and don't want to be without a phone. Can someone please for the love of god get an engineer out to me?

I connected the internet line to the test socket without success. I could not see where the phone line would go. It looks like they go into the faceplate and a single "thing" comes out into the rest of the box.

Anyway I have made contact with TalkTalk on the phone and an engineer is coming out tomorrow, again. So I guess that's all we can hope for right now.

Oh dear. Did you try connecting the phone directly at the test socket to check if it works there?

And just to confirm, your telephone is on an extension socket and when you pick up the receiver the line is dead?

Is it partially going back on but not quite far enough to click in place?

It won't clip back in properly.

OK thanks. What seems to be the problem with it, the faceplate should just push back on and clip in place?

Hi scfenton,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing problems with your service. Could I just ask which type of master socket you have- Your guide to main phone sockets - TalkTalk Help & Support

Thanks

Chris
