I want to buy the ASUS RT-AX86U but I’m unsure what to do; I guess I also need to buy a modem to push the internet through first so the router will work.

 

Does anybody know which modem I can use, or does anybody have any advice on what to do; this is the first time I am trying this.

Hi

 

A modem was used with the older ADSL service, with a fibre connection you only need a fibre or VDSL compatible router.  I'm on fibre myself and use the older ASUS RT-AX56U router.

 

Setup was straightforward. This router had an option to set everything to Auto and select an option 'my ISP does not require a username/password' etc.
