Hi, I’ve had my TalkTalk HG635 router for four or five years and it’s always worked fine. But over the last few months, the Wi-fi has become increasingly erratic - either slowing to a crawl or dropping out completely. A PC connected via ethernet has no problems at all with the internet connection.
I’ve carried out the usual diagnostics: reset the router, left it powered off for a while, changed the Wifi channels, etc.. The problem occur with multiple devices, (phone, tablet, laptop, Amazon Echo, Google Mini), even when used right next to the router. When using an app like Wifi Analyzer, it shows the signal strength randomly fluctuating all over the place or disappearing completely. The problem initially only occurred on the 2GHz band, but now it’s also happening on 5GHz. I’ve tried disabling one of the bands at a time, but the same issue occurs.
There are no repeaters, range extenders or any other similar equipment in use, only the TalkTalk router. Nothing else has changed environmentally over the last few months.
Is it possible for you to send out another router to test?
Thanks.

Whilst this is most likely down to WiFi interference, due to your router's age, I will ask TalkTalk to consider swapping this out for you. If the replacement is no better though, you only have to ask & there is probably quite a bit I can do to improve things.
