It is 10 months now that the router connection keeps going off, 6 times today 19/09 /2024. We have had a B.T. engineer who could not fix it. Why should we pay for a very poor service???

OK thanks, I'll book the engineer for the crackle as this is probably related to the disconnections. I'll book the engineer now and get back to you with the details

Hi Chris, with the micro filter in the test socket only incoming mobile numbers crackle with landline numbers ok.
With the micro filter removed and the cap / cover put back on the phone crackles badly and the router goes off / on 6 times in 12 hours some times off / on then back off again. Joe.

Hi Joe902,
Is there any crackling on the telephone line at the moment (if there is or not will help decide which engineer we book)?

Hi Joe,
Thanks for confirming. Please can you confirm acceptance of possible time related engineer charges and also provide a few days availability AM (8-1) and PM (1-6) and we can book this in for you.

Hi Joe902
The line tests are clear but I can see re connections on the line.
If you have tested with a different router at the test socket then the next step will be an Openreach engineer visit to the property. Would you like me to arrange this visit?

Hi Debbie, the whole box was replaced with an openreach MK4 master socket 5C (built in filter) 10 months ago , this did not solve the on going problem. Joe.

Hi @Joe902
I'm sorry to hear this.
This sounds like a fault with the faceplate.
Did the last Openreach engineer make any changes to your master socket? (replace faceplate)

Using a microfilter is standard practice for avoiding the sorts of problems you've been having, @Joe902:

It's entirely up to you whether you renew. Neither cancellations nor renewals can be processed via the forum.

Up date, 12 months now with router signal going off, it`s better using the micro filter into the test socket. Since 21 oct it went off 5 times with only phone crackling on mobile phones input calls. Sat Nov 9, 5pm removed the micro filter and put back the lid on the open reach MK4 box. Since then it went off 6 times in 12 hours and phone crackling badly. Micro filter put back and been ok for 12 hours. Now that i`m a chat champion and the contract with TalkTalk ends at the end of the month (Nov), Q, should i renew it? Joe.
