We've just joined TalkTalk and we currently have a very underwhelming connection speed of 2mbps. When the engineer came, he said that this was because we are connected to the exchange at the other end of the village rather than the one outside the house. However, we have since been informed that the exchange outside our house is full and we cannot connect to it. Not great news, particularly given that we're at the start of the contract but outside the cooling off period. So, exploring our options, we see that Vodafone are offering their Fibre 2 service at our specific address. If Vodafone can do this, can TalkTalk upgrade us to fibre? And if so, how do we put this in place? This seems like an obvious question but it's very hard (read 'impossible') to speak to a member of TalkTalk staff and whilst their website says it's easy to request an upgrade, we cannot see how to actually do this. Any advice gratefully received.

The service offered is specific to the capability of the line and distance from the exchange.

Using the TalkTalk postcode checker, I can see that Fibre 65 is available for the house next door (we are at the end of small terrace), but for some reason, not for us. Could this be an error in the postcode checker?

Hi
The connection is ADSL and all profile settings are correct, so the line is correctly in sync at 2.4mb
The only way to achieve faster speeds is if Fibre is available to you either via TalkTalk or another provider.

Use Talktalk's own postcode checker on the main website or phone / Chat, @JaneD2.

Just because Vodafone is linked up with the Full Fibre nearby doesn't mean Talktalk is. All these deals are set up according to capacity and company by company.
Look out for early termination fees if you switch.
