I have installed a Wi-Fi extender for use at the back of the house and the garage. We’ve had a garden room built and Wi-Fi doesn’t reach there so is it possible to instal another extender? Thanks

Hello,

Did you purchase the wifi extender via the TalkTalk Store?

Thanks

I bought a basic Wi-Fi extender and it worked fine. The powerline system doesn’t work so I hope I can return the Wi-Fi extender I bought from talktalk. Thanks.

@Debbie-TalkTalk they don't have a problem with the router, already have one extender that covers some of their home but need a solution to cover their "garden room" but that has not been achievable with an extra set of extenders due to the ring main issue.

What @Alisonq needs is WiFi in the garden room, so they either need to use a WiFi extender (not a great solution), put a WiFi access point in the home as close as possible to that room using the powerlines they have recently purchased and hope for coverage, or run a physical ethernet cable from the extender or router to that room.

Hi Alisonq

Would you like me to send a replacement router for testing?

It turns out that the outbuildings are on the same ring as the house but, because there are circuit breakers in each building, the extenders don’t work. Does this mean I need a new router? Thanks

Okay, I will check with the electrician as I don’t know if they are all on the same system. If they are on separate systems do I need to get another router? Thanks

@Alisonq  the "garden room" electrical sockets need to be on the same ring main/consumer unit as the sending unit.

If the units paired successfully on sockets that are close together, then your home wiring is the problem.

Hi

This could be down to the wiring to the garden room, if the adapter works in other locations.

Thanks

Karl.

Thanks, I have bought one and it arrived today. I pared it and got the three green lights but when I put it in the garden room I only get the top light to go green, the power line and wireless lights don’t come on. Can you help? Thanks

Hi, the garden room doesn’t seem to get the signal from the extender so I think it would be best to buy another one. I looked at Talktalk website but can’t see one, any advice on how to buy one? Thanks

Hi

You can install multiple wifi extenders.  Have you made sure the wifi extender is at a mid way point.

Thanks

Karl.
