Emails from my Talktalk address to my Talktalk Address go to Spam

Hi,

I always have emails I send sent to my own address as BCC for filing purposes.  I also send files to myself from my my laptop to my desktop (and vice versa) using the same address.   Suddenly, all emails arriving from my own email address are being consigned to the spam box.  Is there a way that I can fix this?

Hi,

Well, here's another mystery.  Sending emails to myself, as described in my original post, has worked fine ever since I first had a TalkTalk email address (at that time TalkTalk belonged to Carphone Warehouse so at least twenty years) and it's only in the last couple of months that it has started to go into the Server spam box, even yesterday it was still happening when I tested it.

Today, I decided to test it out before replying to your email and I am amazed to find that it is now suddenly fixed and the test mails I sent all arrived in my inbox.  Whether it is really fixed, or just a fluke, only time will tell but for the moment it "appears" to be sorted.  My thanks to all who have responded, it's good to know help is there when you need it.

Best regards,

Tinkerer

@Tinkerer I did a google search on sending emails to yourself and it seems that this often happens with all providers.

This search and AI response might help you understand the issue.

Staff can look into this tomorrow for you, but it may be causing issues that the receiving address is the same as the sending one. Have you tried setting the rule within Webmail itself?

You have your own filing system, but could you not change how you file your mails and use the email within the sent folder and file this in place of using the bcc option?

When you send files between the 2 computers using your email address, do you use bcc there too? If so have you tried sending it as a top level mail?

Are you using POP settings or IMAP? Using IMAP will mirror your folders across all devices meaning you can view the same on both laptop and PC.

Hi,

You are correct that I use an email client (Outlook) but the emails don't get that far. They get dumped in the web mail spam box. I did try once sending from web mail and the same thing happened. Somehow TalkTalk seem to have blacklisted my TalkTalk email address and I have no idea how to fix it. When I go into the spam box, I mark each one individually as "not spam" and they pop over into the web mail inbox and from there to the Outlook client but the system does not seem to learn from it and continues to send them all to spam.

I assume you are using a third party client such as Outlook or Thunderbird. Is this correct?

Staff here can only support Webmail. What happens if you send yourself messages using Webmail? Does the same thing happen?

Have you tried setting up a rule based on your email address that will divert the incoming mails to your inbox? Check out your programmes help function on how to set up a rule.
