Outgoing emails blocked "550 5.7.1 Reject for policy reason"

My outgoing emails are being rejected when they have pdf attachment. 

 

A plain text email and one with jpg attachment leaves successfully but ones pdf are rejected for policy reasons.  This is true for fresh emails and for replies when sent from outlokk or webmai..

 

The problem seems to have started since the begning of August.

The email has not been rejected by the recipient's email.  It never leaves TT.

  • Emails without attachments get through to external emails.
  • I have sent to other TalkTalk email address with success
  • There is no client app involved.
  • I am currently located at my parent's house which alos has TalkTalk broadband managed by me.
  • I have tested from laptop Outlook and from TT webmail and its the same

So, there might be some possible situations at play here. 

  1.  It could be that the intend recipient may need to adjust their settings by whitelisting your email address on their account by
  2. You may need to review your Authentication Settings by ensuring your server is properly configured with SPF,dkim and DMARC.

How are you currently accessing your emails. Is it by TT webmail or by a client app and what device are using.

I have tested again and the situation has not changed.  Emails with PDF attachments are not sending.  Emails with jpg gets through.

I also understand, @Gliwmaeden2. But in light of how things have been we still ought to first get enough clarity so that we can assist accordingly. However, we have to wait for @Ellyott to respond back.

@kanya-TT, I understand that, but it's been a couple of hours and would be good to follow up the original enquiry before forum staff finish today. 

 

It's clearly a separate issue as other email types are sending from the customer's address. 

 

@Ellyott, are you still having problems sending out emails that contain .pdfs?

Given the recent situation where many of our customers are facing email issues, I believe it's reasonable to inquire whether they are affected by this trend before we proceed with additional fact-finding questions, @Gliwmaeden2.

Is it possible to get to the bottom of who messages containing .pdf files are not sending, @kanya-TT?
