Hi andyb68,
As you've only recently gone live, your line should stabilise as the DLM adjusts (more about this here: https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Your-first-14-days-of-broadband/ta-p/2265885)
I can see that your router isn't running the latest firmware, are you happy for me to upgrade this for you? This will cause your connection to drop just for a few minutes.
Thanks,
Becky
Fair enough, fingers crossed DLM does its thing !!.
The 'typical download speed' that was quoted to you is rather a large range, so is hard to guess what speed TalkTalk think your line can really achieve, although as they have given you a 'minimum guaranteed speed' of 41.5 then as long as your router syncs above that speed (and it is based on the sync speed, not 'speed test' throughput speed) they are technically keeping to their promise.
Hi andyb68,
No problem, that's just updating so you'll notice the connection drop briefly, I'll get back to you as soon as it's done 🙂
Thanks,
Becky
cheers updated.
does all this look normal, well apart from speeds
Actual Rate [Kbps] 46330 9868
Maximum Rate [Kbps] 44612 9868
Noise Margin [dB] 6.30 6.30
Attenuation [dB] 21.40 0.00
Hi andyb68,
Just to let you know that that's all updated for you, I hope that helps 🙂
Thanks,
Becky
hmmm starting to see a pattern here, peak times speed is falling dramatically, lowest so far, so im guessing congestion ?
so by looks its congestion, speeds fallen again, though still in 30's, so i guess the solution to this is get the max allowable speed possible from talktalk 😁
Hi andy,
I'm sorry to hear this and for the delay. Would it be possible to confirm specifically the times when the throughput speeds are dropping and also run a wired ping and trace route when the speed is good and also when the speed drops and post the results into the thread. We can then ask our Network Team to take a look.
When the throughput speeds are dropping at peak times does this happen with just the one wired device connected to the line?
Thanks
ok, so i only every have one device connected and thats via Ethernet.
speeds when came home at 4pm, 48mb/s and slightly above, now 8ish have lost around 12mb/s down to highest is 36mb/s

Hi andy,
Thank you. I've passed this over to one of our Network Engineers now to take a look and I'll let you know as soon as I receive an update back.
Thanks
hope they can solve it as its like it every single evening so far, at 31mb/s tonight
