Pathetic speeds between router and PC

My internet connection symbol is showing 5 bars, so how can this be explained?How is this possible?

Thanks for the update. Have we ever sent you a replacement router for testing purposes to rule this out?

After pulling the mains cable out of the router for a minute or so I plugged it back in and the result was dramatic, in fact this one of the highest speeds I've had on wi-fi. The trouble is that I seem to have to keep doing this re-setting quite frequently. I've never found a wired connection to show any more than a marginal improvement, which is strange. It's impractical for me to have a permanent wired connection because with the only telephone socket being in the hall, it means trailing a long cable across the floor and through doors. 
p.s. I've never heard of a forum than won't accept images in .jpg format.

Was this a wireless speed test?

Please can you power down the router for a full 30 minutes and then run another speed test?
