Why does it take a week to move broadband to a new house?

Hi Lowenna

The line has to be provisioned on our service by an engineer (minimum 10 days), Sadly its not, and has never been a plug in and play switch over.

We do ask for at least 30 days notice to begin the homemove process

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Well, Talktalk wouldn't necessarily know that, and they need a standardised process.

The fortnight is a minimum, and the maximum is 3 months. That is reasonable flexibility.

It's not to do with plugging in the router.

The previous owners / tenants will have had a service using the line running to at least the completion date.

There are several other players involved, each with notice to give.

But why, I can unplug the router from my current house then plug it in in my new house…so why won’t it work? Can’t give 14 days notice when I only got a completion date for next week yesterday!

It's normally a minimum 14 days' notice, @Lowenna.

Possibly checks need to be made re availability, updating your account, etc. Not absolutely everything is automated ...!

Manual input and limited available man hours.
