I have been getting an increasing number of spam calls on my landline on different numbers but with the same message.

I cant block all of them as the phone only has 50 number memory

Is there any other way to stop these annoying calls?

thanks

You can add your friends numbers to your accepted lust via my account. They will then go straight through to your voicemail. It's only those who have to announce themselves that won't be able to leave a message.

I found that the announcement of the person calling was left so I knew who had called and then I added them to my list of I knew their number.

If you already have a screening facility on your phone, why use CallSafe? Have you tried turning it off via the handset as I mentioned earlier?

EDIT: My bad, I have just realised you can turn it on via the handset, but not off again. Now that is a nuisance!

Thanks - but what is the point of call safe if it disables the screening facility on my phone? I wanted this feature to stop spam callers but for genuine callers to be able to leave a message.  I am not prepared to pay for the privilege of TalkTalk voicemail when my phone already has this FOC. I guess i will have to turn off call safe and try and ignore the spam callers.

i have reached out to Tlktalk via chat to get them tio turn it off. It seems that they cant find this option either !!

CallSafe is not compatible with most built-in voicemail services. And the disappearance of the option to easily disactivate it from My Account has been raised before. Are you unable to switch it off via your handset? Dial 1 4 7 2 from your TalkTalk landline, then press 1.

Otherwise, the support team here should be able to do this manually for you.

hello

i have just found out that activating CallSafe has disabled the voicemail facility built into my phone.

However in order to test this I need to turn Callsafe off BUT Talktalk in their overarching wisdom have located it somewhere else where i can't find it!

I tried to follow the instructions in tjh elink you porovided https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/How-to-use-CallSafe/ta-p/2204789

but it failed to get me to this option.

this afternoon, i logged into my account and saw the format had changed i.e.

2024-09-17 (2).png

when i clicked on manage add on's the next page i saw was

2024-09-17 (3).png

when i clicked on manage telephone add-ons i was taken to a page i had never seen before and where there was NO sign of CallSafe

are you able to advise?  #

many thanks

Hi surfing69,

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing problems switching CallSafe off. Have you followed the process outlined here - How to use CallSafe - TalkTalk Help & Support

Thanks

hello

i needed to turn off Callsafe as i needed to get a code from HMRC BUT despite cancelling this service a number of times over about 30 mins, it still remains set to ON.,

I need to understand why it took less than a minute to switch on but now i cannot apparently switch it off!

Pls advise

You dont get charged for turning this on, so no, dialling 1472 will not incur a charge.

I found Callsafe very effective. I've used it 5 years plus and in that time I've not had one spam call. Spammers will not announce themselves.
