Spoofed home phone

My home phone has been used by scammers for the last week and I am getting constant call backs from people who have missed a call from me, some before 7am in the morning!

Openreach have checked my line and there's no faults.

Do Talktalk have a policy or anything for this as I can't find anywhere that mentions any advice

Yes, not so many over the festive period but have started again in earnest yesterday. They started at 715am today and had 46 so far, getting fed up with them, had hundreds and hundreds over the last month!

True call secure +

The only trouble is these folks that are calling me believe I've been trying to contact them so they press to say they are genuine callers to speak to me.

That's the problem if I turn your call safe on, they won't hang up and I'll end up answering every call to accept/decline it as they believe I want to talk to them. And this stops me using my answerphone as I have to answer every call.

Currently I've turned my call blocker off as anyone that rings I don't want it saving those numbers on my list as it won't block them in future and they aren't scammers just unfortunate folks that the scammers are calling

What call blocker are you using as it should only let numbers through on an approved list

So are there more numbers on your records than on mine? I only use my phone about once a day on average

Hi angiegreb

Have you checked the outbound calls usage in My Account are they all Valid calls, I can see some international calls etc.

Have you recently signed up to anything using your landline number?

Our only options are callsafe or a renumber.

Currently waiting for an agent on chat, they are busy so been waiting ages

There is nothing to stop the scammers using a new number if I change as they just try and number that's live

If you change your number, the scammers can carry on using the spoofed one, but your new one shouldn't be affected.

It is a terrible nuisance though.

That doesn't solve the issue that my number is ringing people, I have a call blocker but the folks that are returning my calls are pressing to say they are friends to talk to me. And I don't want all these calls coming to my number that need to be verified each time either!

I've had over 20 this morning!

I don't really want to change my number as it could happen again.

I'm just amazed that there is no contact, advice or information on the talktalk site

@angiegreb, you might find it helpful to use Callsafe:

However, if the problem is insurmountable, sometimes the only solution is to get your phone number changed. Hopefully it won't come to that.
