Have you explained to the kids how much it costs and asked them not to?

From the 29th of March our TalkTalk Community will move to peer-to-peer support and the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries. Don’t worry we still have plenty of ways to reach out if you need to speak to TalkTalk directly. For more details check out the link here: How to contact TalkTalk Broadband - Help & Support.

@diane16051965, did you look at the consequences of reducing the allowance?

Outgoing calls would be barred till the end of that billing month.

Family won't be able to call out if the line gets restricted except to call emergency numbers.

Unplug it and lock it away, @diane16051965, whenever you are out....

Encourage banks / businesses etc to contact you on your own smartphone in case you miss anything important.

Why do you ask? The simple answer is don't make any outgoing calls and you won't be charged anything.

You can just be very disciplined and only use the landline for calls that are free, like 0800 numbers or Talktalk's support line, 03451 720088. Calls to other Talktalk customers are free up to 3 hours.

If you don't trust others in your household not to run up bills, you can change the "Allowance" feature in My Account.

See this extract, @diane16051965:

It's from this page:

https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Your-monthly-allowance/ta-p/2204660

That would restrict expenditure.

If you add a boost you can call ordinary 01, 02, 03 and most mobiles for up to an hour at a time.

The calls boost is often discounted, but full price is £16.00 monthly:

https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/About-our-Boosts/ta-p/2204813

You'd still be vulnerable to people running up bills on expensive calls.

I think minimising the allowance might be your best bet, @diane16051965.
