We cannot just send a remote, but have to replace the whole unit. A replacement is on the way.

You can't if it's an old YouView box one but you can purchase them from online auction sites.
These boxes have been unavailable for 4 years now.
Whichever box you have have you tried new batteries and or a remote reset?
