I have just renewed my broadband contract and carried on with talktalk tv. l was sent a new box but this doesn’t look like it will record. This wasn’t mentioned. It seems pretty pointless if this is so. The whole point of paying for tv was to have a recording facility. To still charge for a pointless box is taking liberties. A reduction in service you’re stil paying for!

Hi Coling3

As fr8ys advises, we no longer provide the older youview boxes and now only issue the 4K TV Box.

Hi,

TalkTalk have not supplied recordable boxes for over 2 years now

I assume you have been sent the small netgem 4k box. Of so you can record with a usb stick installed (I'd recommend a 128 or 256 stick) but be aware you can't watch one channel and record another on the box as it's a one tuner only box. Nor does it have a loop through to the TV so you will need a dplitter and separate lead to the TV

The box is basically a streamer, with a tuner added.

If you have your old box you can continue to use that

If you don't want the box, return it then speak to the loyalty team to get your monthly TV charge removed.

You can source a more up to date recordable YouView box from places like CeX quite cheaply these days. There are also recordable Freeview play boxes available.

Hope this helps in helping you make a decision.
