Unable to get normal tv channels since updating box

Since updating my box in December, I have lost all normal tv channels.  Anything I have is BBC 1, 2, 9 and then jumps to the 200's - lost all channels in between and anything I watch goes through iplayer.  Had chats online, new box received and now can't see where to put the activation code as the web address basically doesn't go to where I need to add it so I've skipped that part.  When setting up the box, it still showed no tv channels available.  This is now driving me insane but I can see others are saying similar regards the channels.  I had an engineer look at the line and said it had faults but these were now corrected and told same via the chat but still in the same mess with this.

Has anyone resolved this issue and can the box be retuned to before it was updated to get them back?  This situation is crazy and no one seems to have an answer for something we're paying for.

Hi

First thing to mention, with the normal TV channels, these are over the air transmissions (freeview) so will be unaffected by the internet connection or any internet related issues.

With the poor weather in parts of the country, this can affect the transmitters, general reception, or even your own external aerial, if it has been moved or dislodged due to the snowfall etc.

First thing to test, is connect your aerial direct to your TV.  Retune the channels and see if any of these are missing or braking up.  This will check the signal levels to see if they are poor.

Karl.
