I have the talktalk 4k tv box. The problem is, i can't receive the tv through it via the aerial, however, if i bypass the box and plug directly into the tv, I can receive channels OK, so I don't believe that the aerial is to blame.

Hi Karl, I'm sorry it has taken this long to reply to you. When I contacted you originally, I was out of the country and have just returned yesterday. I didn't want to accept your offer of a new tv box at the time because I wasn't here in the UK to receive the new box. After trying everything I learned to live with it using the work around that I told you about. However, now, I feel that I should take you up on your offer of a new TV box, because, frankly, it's starting to become annoying having to switch back and forth and that isn't what I'm paying for. So yes, please send me a new TV box and I'll return the old one.

I've tried everything. I have had this same problem since you sent me the new TalkTalk 4K TV box but I managed to work around it.

The problem is, I connected the TV box as instructed. Unfortunately, the aerial when connected to the tv box does not work at all but when I connect the aerial directly to the TV aerial in connector, I can receive Terrestrial TV as normal but not any of the channels through the TV box. To use the TV box, I have to switch over to it using its handset, then I can receive my subscription channels through the internet as normal.

to recap:

No signal from the aerial when connected to the TV box,

Terrestrial TV connects when plugged directly into the TV

TV box works via internet but no terrestrial channels

I am forced to switch between the TV and the TV box using their respective handsets.

My conclusion, If I can receive Terrestrial channels when the aerial is connected directly to the TV - there cannot be a fault with the aerial.

If I can receive Talktalk TV through the TV box connected via my internet - There cannot be a fault on the internet or the connection to it.

The fault has to lay with the TV box aerial connector itself, withing the TV box, in other words, the box is faulty.

Have you tried resetting the box by pressing the button on the side 5 times.
