My bill is more than my agreed contract with no explanation.

Have you recently switched from Shell, @Manxman3?

 

It can take a while to sort out the first bill or so, what with whether the DD works, pro rata charges etc.

 

If not, remember that most people suffered a price rise back in April. 

 

Or are you now out of contract? Any discounts will have expired.
