Hi,
My contract with Talk Talk ends in August 2025. When it got renewed they only offered 18 months minimum, not less, even if I had told them I was going to leave the UK in 2025. 12 months would have been perfect. Now I will need to end my contract early, probably in February. I was wondering if the fees would be cancelled as I'm leaving the UK for good? Thanks

I understand your point, but you still accepted the contract.

When your clients tell you they are going to leave the UK, maybe you should show good customer service and not give them a contract that is going to be too long for their need.

The terms and conditions are what you agreed to on the renewal, sorry cancellation fees are valid.

OK.

Your experience is not mine. I had no idea that I had "a do nothing option".

If you called them then I assume this was proactive on your part having received notification that your current contract was ending? In my experience, this includes a "do nothing" option. Is that not what happened?
This has been flagged up to the TalkTalk support team here and they will advise further when they pick this up.

I was never explained this when I called them at the start of this year.

Well, you did not have to renew your contract, you could have continued at standard out of contract prices. As it is, you have had the benefit of a further discount on standard prices. So overall there may not be much in it.

I'm surprised. When I left my home country years ago, I was able to do it. Moving abroad was a valid reason not to pay exit fees. Moreover, I was not given the chance of a shorter contract when I told them I was going to leave the UK.

I'm afraid not, the fees are calculated as set out here:
