I've pretty much had enough of TalkTalk, I'm leaving my property and thankfully where I'm moving to has far better choices than what I'm currently on. So my plan is to cancel, I've just paid for this month and as I'm not on a contract my plan is to just stop the direct debit on my account.
Now, trying to contact TalkTalk to cancel is something I've tried but I keep getting no where. Phones are always busy, the "chat" service is downright atrocious (case in point, when I tried to speak to someone they spent more time trying to get me to stay than actually dealing with my question!) and trying to find concrete information on your website is another hassle that I'm just tired of.
Let me be clear, I do not want to take talktalk to my new property, I'm not interested in whatever deal you have to offer, I simply want to know exactly what you want done with your equipment, once I have that info I'll be out of your hair and free to find better quality broandband.

You should never cancel a Direct Debit as it can cause you all sorts of issues later on including penalty fees being added for late payment and it may affect your credit rating too. You are covered by the DD guarantee so should get your money back.
To be clear, cancellations cannot be done via the forum, neither can you give notice here.
Also, if money is owed to you on your final bill, it will be repaid via the DD.
Notice can only be given by phoning and speaking to the Loyalty Team. If you use chat they will arrange a call back, but this only delays things as its still the Loyalty team you will speak to.

Hope this helps.

You do need to cancel directly with customer services. It is common practice for them to persuade you to stay, but if you are clear about your intentions then they have to oblige. I wouldn't cancel your Direct Debit though until you get a final zero bill, otherwise that may just prompt automated warnings and unwanted fees.
