Life after contract

My contract ends within a month. Within the next 6 months or so ( for complicated reasons) I need a minimal level broadband that will probably not be used.

I have various choices I believe.

1.. let the TT service continue month on month, the cost of which I don't know yet.

2.. Find the cheapest possible broadband somewhere else.

3.  Risk having no broadband.

What I'm asking here is whether you know of any monthly type of  contract or even 6 months. Or a more clever solution that I haven't thought  of.

Any speed is ok

I've gone for full cancellation.

Out of contract price can't be justified for me if I don't use it.

So I will lose landline. But have now gone for a new mobile service that gives me WiFi calling.

Will lose TV. But have now bought a new set top box to replace TT one.

Now TV contracts I can start up separately.

So the key loss is the broadband which is what has caused all this in the first place and which I can't explain here.

When my current situation comes to an end I'll consider then returning to TT if the price is right.

Many thanks though for your help to,-date.

Again thanks for this.

The TV aspects are probably the only costs I'm happy with. I use the box for recording and replacing it would only increase my costs further. Also I use now TV so that would need replacing.

My circumstances are fairly unusual in that I need broadband for backup but is highly unlikely to be used at all in the foreseeable future. Also cancelling it would lose my landline.

I'm stuck with those costs I feel.

Anyway thanks for your input, I'll continue to puzzle it out.

Removing all the TV stuff would bring it down a lot, @des09.

It's probably worth getting that all removed (& returning the box).

You'd need to phone 03451 720088 (after 9am).

Hi @des09

When you contract moves to a rolling contract your discounts on broadband and TV end also so the price will be

£31.88 +

£5 (tv) +

Now cinema(4.99 discount ends in 6months)

Now entertainment £9.99.

Total £51.86

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I'm already looking at your suggestions, meanwhile I'll get onto TT to find out the rolling continuation cost. I have a feeling it'll be extortionate.

You'll just have to carry on with the rolling monthly "out of contract" price, @des09, with Talktalk.

A quick search on the internet does bring up possibilities for month by month, or 6 month, contracts with eg some Mobile operators that have schemes with 4G / 5G hubs etc. You'll have to just do your own research for anything outside Talktalk!
