Router Firmware Update

Hi

Sometime ago I purchased a new Fast 5364 router from TalkTalk.

I later purchased a BT Premium Whole Home Wi-Fi system with a Pack of 3 Discs which worked fine with the router.

Then, following a firmware update, the discs would no longer connect to the router. I contacted BT who said they were aware of the issue and I should contact TalkTalk, which I did. However, TalkTalk was unable to help and I reverted back to an old router, which did work with the discs.

I now understand that TalkTalk has resolved the firmware issue and there is a new version which will work with the discs.

If I leave the Fast 5364 router plugged in overnight, will it automatically be updated to the latest firmware version?

Thanks.

I replaced the Sagemcom after it disconnected on Thursday with the BT router because we have intensive zoom meetings all this week and I can't risk another disconnection at the moment. I'll try it again next week but to be honest I don't hold out much hope.

How has it been since over the weekend? When was the last time the connection dropped?

I have to reboot it Chris.

The only possibe reason I can think of for this phenomenon is that I am using BT premium whole home discs for my wifi.

If you check my first post you can see there was a problem following a previous router firmware update, where the router wouldn't work with the discs at all.

The current firmware version does allow the discs to work but now we have this disconnection problem every 2 days. Why it should be every 2 days is anyone's guess. Perhaps the firmware has a mechanism for making a check every 48 hours and resets if it finds something it doesn't like?

Hi Clarence,

Does the router reconnect by itself after it disconnects or do you have to reboot it?

Hi Karl

The router disconnected today so I have replaced it with my BT router which works without issue.

Really don't know what the problem could be with the Sagemcom router. The ones I've tried just seem to work for 2 days and then disconnect whereas the BT router and my old Huawei router work fine.

Did @KeithFrench get back to you with any similar issues he'd come across?

Yes. Thank you so much Karl.

Just hope this router doesn't keep disconnecting every two days like the last one.

Fingers crossed.

Hi Chris

I have just installed the new TalkTalk router you sent me.

Please would it be possible to push down the latest firmware update?

I've ordered the router, it should be with you within a couple of working days

It probably won't come with the latest firmware installed, it usually automatically updates within 48 hours of connecting it

Hi Chris

That's very kind of you.

Can it come with the latest firmware already installed?

Hi Clarence,

Would you like us to send another router to test with. I don't know if it will fix the problem but it will at least rule out a hardware fault with the current router

Morning,

I don't think I've seen other reports of this.

@KeithFrench - have you come across this at all?

Hi Michelle

Only if you think there is a chance it might fix the problem.

Am I the only person that has this issue 😞
