SG4K100208 firmware and VDSL reconnections

My router updated to firmware version SG4K100208 several days ago. Since then the VDSL connection has reset EVERY night around 1-2am (the quoted connection time is never more than 24 hours). As mentioned by others, the router log has been wiped and remains empty, hence I have no details to post regarding the nightly reconnection. Prior to the firmware update the VDSL connection had been stable for ~6 months (although from May to August 2024 I did have hundreds of VDSL dropouts and FIVE engineer visits, so I am somewhat sensitive to the VDSL dropping out!). Are the nightly VDSL dropouts another fault in the new firmware or is something more serious going on?

Hi
I'm using an Asus RT-AX56U. Was using this on FTTC, and now using this on FTTP.
Karl.

Hi Karl,
I understand and I'm not blaming you or the team here. However, it's not a great 'customer experience' when you are forced to use a router setting that you know 100% is the cause of wifi connection issues with some of your devices! Can I ask which router you have used to connect to TT broadband (I have FTTC)?

Hi
I agree, but our hands are tied here and we cannot turn off optimisation.

Hi Karl,
I'm sorry, but I think that is a stupid company decision and will lose you customers, me included! My wifi connection issues were caused by the wifi optimisation setting being on and all of the associated channel hopping. It should be the customers' choice, and not be forced on them by Talktalk when it has been shown to cause problems!
I have a relatively new Vodafone router, I'm very tempted to give that a go so that I at least have some control over my own network!

Hi
The policy not to disable Wi-Fi optimisation is a business decision, which we cannot change. I do agree with you, and for this reason, I use my own router at home.
Thanks
Karl.

Hi Karl,
The rollback to 206 hasn't stopped the overnight VDSL dropouts since one happened this morning ~1am. Is this due to the DLM +/- the FW changes? So far I've had no dropouts during the day (unlike May-Aug 2024 when I had 100s of dropouts and 5 engineer visits!).
Also, I’ve noticed that wifi optimisation has been re-enabled, presumably due to the FW changes? You had previously disabled this on my router since I had wifi connection issues with some devices, disabling it fixed the issues. I understand you can no no longer disable wifi optimisation, which I find very strange. There are many posts on this forum from people asking for wifi optimisation to be disabled, but your policy is to not allow this! It will certainly impact my decision when my contract ends in a few months!

Hi Karl,
Thanks, I can confirm the router is back on SG4K100206. From Aug 2024 to March 2025 the connection time was typically 30-60 days, since the update to SG4K100208 it has been less than 24 hours. I will post back here should the connection continue to drop frequently.

Hi
We can roll back the firmware to 206 and see if the drops keep happening.
I'll roll this back now.
Thanks
Karl.
