Hello,
I use a VPN connection (with OpenVPN) provided by my University. Unfortunately, this get blocked by my TalkTalk router. I can connect but the speed is incredibly low. The same problem is not there when I use other WiFi networks.

Can you help?

Hi

Can I just clarify, is the VPN still connecting , but running slow, as previously, or just not connecting at all now ?

Thanks

Karl.

nothing to do. I turned it off, waited 30 seconds and switch it on again.

The VPN is unfortunately still not working. 😞

The MTU is a setting on the router but we don't usually change it. Could you try rebooting the router and then retest. Please let us know how you get on

I have read online that the problem might be due to the size of the MTU allowed by the DSL. Is there a way for you to change this?

nothing has changed 😞 The VPN is still not working ...

PS: I have just tried to use it on from mobile data (using my phone as "hotspot" ) and in this case, it works without problems instead.

I've initiated the firmware update, it should complete in a few minutes. Please don't switch off your router

Is it OK to do it now, your internet connection might be down for a short time?

Hi Chiara,

OK, we could try changing the router firmware to an older version, would you like to give this a try?

Hi Chiara,

I'll see if there's further that we can do. Leave it with me and I'll get back to you

Hello Karl,

unfortunately the new modem did not solve the problem of the VPN. I believe it could be firewall related maybe?

Best,

Chiara
