Ask us about your TalkTalk email account and Webmail.

Last year, I got an Email from TalkTalk August 2022 asking me to change my settings on my Email account. Unfortunately, I didn't do this (various reasons) and when I kept receiving I thought this didn't apply to me as I was now with BT.
However, after the 22nd February I stopped receiving Emails in Outlook. I tried changing the settings there, but it didn't work. I conversed with a gentleman on the ChatLine and he advised me to delete my Pop3 account in Outlook first and then try but it wouldn't work. It says it can't find the IMAP server.
Can support, please help in reactivating my Email so that they go through to Outlook.
Regards,
Andrew

I do hope you're going to confirm that you're using Outlook 2016 or newer. Those versions are supported by TalkTalk for secure mail and to update go via the Advanced setup settings of an email profile, as in this example for Windows 10.
At that point on your device you ought to see the Outlook setup to enter the TalkTalk Mail server settings: NB All talktalk domains use the exact same IMAP secure settings.
Supported Outlook 2016 - 365 settings for POP3 email accounts are:
Account Type | POP3 secure |
Username | Full TalkTalk email address |
Password | TalkTalk email password |
Incoming mail server | mail.talktalk.net |
Incoming Port (POP3) | 995 |
Incoming Connection Security | SSL/TLS |
Outgoing mail server | smtp.talktalk.net |
Outgoing Port | 587 |
Outgoing Connection Security | STARTTLS |
My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication | Yes |
Authentication Method | Login using Username and Password (Not SPA) |
For a definitive check of settings take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of the email address and upload here using the Camera icon (desktop browser) or Picture icon (mobile browser) above this reply area.
But you should be able to get the settings to save ok and verified as the mailbox is now unrestricted.

Thank you Ady for doing that. I've now got my Emails coming through to Outlook. I presume I still need to change the server settings to
|
for my Pop3 account.

Hi Andrew, Gondola is spot on. We don't offer full mail services to non customers, but in the interests of good customer service and in the hope to encourage you to take on TalkTalk Webmail Plus I've added your mailbox to those to be restored to normal function. Please allow 48 hours for the change to complete.
Ady

If you saw the message from TalkTalk advising "Our records show that you are still accessing your email using unencrypted email settings..." then the email address receiving that notification has now been limited to webmail only access OR has a stop on sending mail as a last resort action by TalkTalk to stop the use of email connections not secured by TLS 1.2 encryption.
TalkTalk Mail webmail is secure by design when using an up to date Internet browser.

Enter your full TalkTalk Mail email address and password, select Sign in.
As you're no longer a TalkTalk home broadband customer you're actually entitled only to webmail access for the TalkTalk email accounts. It's a subscription to TalkTalk MailPlus (guide added below) that allows users to retain full access to use email software like Outlook.
A stop on sending is easily resolved by using currently supported email software and secure email settings as shown in the Email Settings guide below.
If your mailbox is limited to webmail only access for both sending and receiving mail, you will be able to get access restored to email apps or email software, including mail collection services, passwords will then re-authenticate, so long as you're ready to use supported email software and secure email settings for all the ways you view emails. Both IMAP4 and POP3 remain supported but some software is not supported.
We can advise on device and software compatibility with TLS 1.2 encryption and provide customer setup guides. Just let us know each mail collection service, each device, its operating system and email software including version that are in current use.
So, first thing is to let us know what version of Outlook you're using and on what operating system.
For a definitive check of email settings take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of the email address and upload here using the Camera icon (desktop browser) or Picture icon (mobile browser) above this reply area.
When you confirm the secure settings are ready I can request TalkTalk Support to restore full access. TalkTalk Support will respond here and access will be restored usually within a couple of working days.
