Do I still need my OpenReach modem?

Hi, Just got setup today with TT boosted Fibre service. I have transferred from PlusNet and I already have a BT OpenReach modem. Do I still need this OpenReach device? The TT setup pamphlet makes no mention of it, but there is a red-ended network cable included in the pack?

Confused.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Solution

No, your TalkTalk Hub is a combined modem/router and you can just connect that directly from the Broadband socket on the back of the router to the DSL connection on your master socket using the grey cable supplied. Help article here

I would like to use the wan IP on my firewall, so would it be possible to use hub as a modem or can I use the openreach modem for this?

Hi

The TallTalk routers cannot be used in modem only mode, so you would not be able to do this with the standard router.

Thanks

Karl.
