More frequent disconnections recently

I've noticed that my internet connection is dropping more frequently than usual. It seems to have coincided with neighbours getting full fibre but may be a coincidence (or a sinister push towards selling it to me). Can someone please check?

Thanks

Jamie

Hi

I've been running some tests this afternoon, spaced out about 20 minutes apart, and so far all have passed and are clear.

Hi @jamieburchell

If you don't mind leaving it in your current set up (at test socket) we can try a few more line tests today.

Message 4 of 64

No worries. Do you want me to reconnect the face place and just the VDSL connection or leave it as-is for now?

Hi @jamieburchell

Unfortunately we don't have that feature with the recorded message.

No - the router has an integrated voice/fax/answering machine function and we just have a recorded message saying to call our mobile phones because we don't use the landline anymore - it's just in case someone's still trying to get through to us. Perhaps I can setup a message like that on TalkTalk? Happy to leave the phone portion disconnected. Perhaps it interferes with your testing (sometimes, because sometimes not 🙂 )

Thanks @jamieburchell

Just ran the test and it's now clear.

Do you use the phone?

It's difficult to say isn't it, because the line test has also been clear when the router has been connected like this. I have just unplugged the phone connection, which also goes in to this particular router. Perhaps you could run another test?

Hi @jamieburchell

The loop fault has been detected again.

I'm wondering if it's the router causing the issue as this is the new filter?

I have just reconnected the router to the filter you supplied, which is connected to the test socket as requested (no faceplate). This is how it's been setup since you sent the filter. Thanks for your help.

Hi @jamieburchell

The test is clear, I've completed 3 different tests since 8.18 this morning.

Will it be ok to reconnect at the test socket (filter and router) so you can use the connection today?

Message 12 of 64

Hi @jamieburchell

If the next line test is clear then please can you connect just the filter and router back to the line at the test socket for today? (I can then run another test)

I always have the faceplate connected usually. I didn't have a separate filter to use on the test socket until you kindly sent one.

HI @jamieburchell

Line test is still clear. Will try one more at 8.55am.

Message 15 of 64

Hi @jamieburchell

I will run another test now.

Sorry, do you mean you always have the faceplate connected? (not connected at the test socket all the time?)

Seems intermittent. You can test until 9 if you like, I'm out until then.

The front of the master socket,  the router and phone (don't use). No extension wiring, no other sockets or devices. As simple as it gets. The filter is built in to the removable front of the socket, isn't it?

Hi @jamieburchell

Test complete and this is clear - No faults detected.

What do you usually have connected? (faceplate, filter and router?)

Hi @jamieburchell

I'm so sorry we didn't reach your thread in time. Do you have time this morning for me to run the test?
