Not happy with the speed i'm getting at B10 I have tried everthing on my side, from changing computer, laptop, mobile still the same speed at 55mb and 12mb upload.

with a new Internet cable RJ45 still same issue. Use to get 70mb and 18-20 upload speed. I am on Fibre 65

Hi @techmind

The line is showing in sync at just under 67mb.

Please can you power down the router for a full 30 minutes and then run another speed test?

@techmind, leave the phone and router plugged in at the test socket [so behind the faceplate]

until staff have time to test the line with this set up.

Set it up today and it will be checked either Monday or Tuesday [there's a Bank Holiday, so fewer staff].

I'll re-escalate this for their attention. Check back for following up during the week.

Hi @techmind

How are you getting on, do you still need assistance with this?

Thanks

Morning,

Does your main socket have a test socket please? If it does then would it be possible to connect the microfilter, router and phone at the test socket so we can re-check the connection stats?

Thanks

Michelle

Staff also need to know if you have a test socket, @techmind.

You need to read this article and identify which type matches yours:

https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Your-guide-to-main-phone-sockets/ta-p/2205432

The noise that might be on the line would while making calls. Is it crackling? It wouldn't be "outside".

Good morning,

Thank you. I've run a test on the line now which is clear, however I can see that the sync speed has been varying. Is there any noise on your voice service? Does the main socket have a test socket please?

Thanks

Michelle

@techmind, the minimum guaranteed speed is a different figure from the expected download speed for the particular line. Different again from average advertised speeds for the package.

Upload speeds, however, cannot be guaranteed.

70Mbps is high for a Fibre65 line.

Staff will be back on here from the morning.

If I am geting a speed of 70MB and 17-20Mb upload before now they have said its guaranteed 58mb and 12 upload speed.

not happy because this has been changed.

Hi techmind,

Can you please update your community profile to include your:

  • Name
  • Telephone number
  • Alternative contact number

We'll then look into this further. Please do not post this information on this thread. Once you've updated your profile please post in your topic to confirm it's updated.

Thanks

Chris

Or maybe the old copper wires are deteriorating with age?, a dodgy corroding connection somewhere? or whatever. The Openreach DLM can/will adjust parameters to ensure stability in response to errors detected on the line, but TalkTalk cannot deliberately slow down your connection speed by a little bit the way you are describing. Has the speed dropped below the guaranteed minimum stated in your contract?
