Why is it so difficult to get real information about any product or service? (This is not confined to TalkTalk) I am on my 3rd offer for a free upgrade to Full Fibre. I currently run on Fibre to Cabinet with a landline. I wish to retain my landline, but the first two offers said nothing about DSL/VOIP and I could not get a satisfactory answer from support so declined. The 3rd offer said it would include DSL/VOIP, so I again contacted support and still got no concrete information, just statements that the upgrade included digital voice. I thought there was a chance it would work this time, and since I would be contacted nearer the upgrade, i let it run. I then had a questionnaire on my use of my landline and shortly after responding to that was told I was not suitable for the upgrade and it was cancelled. I then got another statement saying I was going to full fibre, but would retain my landline and I would be contacted for a date.
I don't have a date, but I have just received a new F@ST 5464 modem/router, which would be appropriate for my cancelled upgrade on Wed 27-Nov.
A search for a manual has been useless - even the Sagecom site doesn't seem to provide manuals. Looking at the back of the modem however, it does support wired ethernet with RJ45 sockets and has an RJ11 socket labelled phone. I am assuming that I can plug a standard BT8500 phone set into this and retain my landline. If so I need another cable - a double ended RJ11, as my landline base-station is nowhere near my router. I run a 1Gb wired network off a secondary switch and it would be nice to know what the router supports.
I appreciate that most people are not interested in the technicalities, but is too much to ask for access to a technical specification? I assume at least the manufacturer has one to know what it is building.

Thanks, Bill. I've now had a lengthy conversation with TalkTalk about upgrading with VOIP and I think it's sorted.

Yes, I've gone through this same saga a couple of years ago.
There is no manual from the manufacturer, Sagemcom of the F@ST 5464 router.
Some of the maintenance of this router is carried out by TalkTalk themselves.
But there is no manual for it, from TalkTalk either.
You just have to accept it. It works (partly).
As far as I understand it, the DSL that you mention, is part of the FTTC system, which is what you are currently using.
The FTTP which you are in the process of getting doesn't have anything like DSL. There will be a completely new FIBRE line installed with a completely new incoming socket.
The RJ11 socket labelled phone on the router, will allow you to connect all your existing phones
While you are in the upgrade process, you must insist to TalkTalk that the new service includes the VOIP part of the service, so that you can connect your phones.
