Why is plan so much higher in cost? Cheaper to move every year!

Hi there community,

I don't understand why the plan goes up so much after your initial contract?
It is way cheaper to move companies every 18 months or so than stay loyal.

WHY?

Why don't they treat the people that are their loyal paying customers better than some new person they have to "pay" to win?
I can move companies and save hundreds of pounds, every time renewal is coming up.

I look on the TT website, and the best deal for staying is £14 per month more, for 18 months. That is £252.

Any ideas?
Or is it best to just leave. They don't make it easy to manage/ get in touch. MUCH faster to sign up elsewhere.

Why the only way to create a async message is in this forum, instead of just having a ticket system to deal with issues. It is beyond me.

Hi walt111

 

Looking at your account you have been out of contract since April 2024, your end of contract notification, which did offer a new deal was issued 20 March 2024 and also explained the out of contract price. Best option would be to call the loyalty team on 03451720088 They will be able to see what options are available

I am not sure why you are saying its BS marketing they make no secret of the prices they charge in their adverts.

You need to phone support or use online chat to find out why you are paying the extra the advert for Full fibre 150 is below there is no  £44 package  -

@walt111, they do usually email an offer, or several options, so you maybe missed picking up the renewal email, or went to Spam?

 

Anyway, the best deals are negotiated over phone  / Chat, so I just set time aside when convenient.

What package are you are you on?

 

FF 150 starts at £28

FF 900 starts at £45

 

Full Fibre 150
From £28 a month, increasing to £31 from April 2025 then to £34 in April 2026, for an 24 month contract with no set up fees

 

Full Fibre 900
From £45 a month, increasing to £48 from April 2025 then to £51 in April 2026, for an 24 month contract with no set up fees.

Thanks @Gliwmaeden2 I appreciate that.

My point is why do I need to call them. Why don't they email me an offer, apply it with one click.
Why do I have to spend time, during their business hours, chatting with someone - it is soooo much faster to just leave with a comparable deal.


That is the part that frustrates me with these companies. I have 5 different ones btw.

My frustration goes across them all.  I use TT on 2, Virgin, Sky and Starlink. 
The simplest one is Starlink - so simple, interface is easy and support is great.

If they weren't so expensive, I would use them elsewhere - but not worth it given FTTP is available in all the other spots.

 

Anyway. More of a rant than anything. Thanks for listening

So why are they charging me like £44 pm, with no new equipment or anything?

I am this easy going loyal customer that doesn't bother them to much. I notice my DD go up by £14 and I start to wonder why. Then I have to go do 5 minutes work to change supplier and put a new router in - boom, saving £14-20 pm for next 18-24 months.
Even with the silly "inflation" trick that some of them do now.

I recently had FTTP installed  i was offered Full Fibre 150 for  £29.95 fixed for 24 months, if  you don't guarantee you will stay by taking out a fixed package the price will increase every year all ISP's do this its not just TT!

Your initial contract is discounted, and it's often possible to add discounted boosts too, @walt111.

 

All that is happening is that the out of contract price reflects the fact that you can leave any time with 30 days' notice ( or until a switch) without penalty, so the extra per month is actually covering costs for Talktalk.

 

If you leave earlier, while in contract, these costs are reflected by early termination fees.

 

When you get renewal offers from Talktalk by email or in My Account,  they are not usually the best available deals.

 

Most regular forum users know that they will be likely to achieve a better deal by contacting Talktalk directly on 03451 720088 or using Chat. 

 

If you use the forum search engine, the contact details come up very easily, and also show the opening hours for live chat and phone near the bottom of the information page:

You cannot negotiate a deal through the forum so you will need to set aside time to phone or use Chat. Phone support is next available for this from Monday morning. You need to speak to the Loyalty team  / Retentions department / better value team.
