Just installed my new 4k box only to find I cannot access Google play store so cannot view Disney+, Discovery+ etc. After spending nearly two hours chatting on line to a Talk Talk agent to find out that these services are not available to TalkTalk viewers this seems an incredibly bad  basic failing by Talk Talk .

TalkTalk now only supply the TV Hub which does have access to the play store.

You could try phoning and negotiating for one, but it will mean recontracting if it's possible to upgrade.

Whilst it has the play store, it has no recording capability.

Try phoning 0345 172 0088

Hi

There is an android box also, but this is currently only available to FTTP customers at the moment, the agent may have confused the two.

The Netgem box being Linux based has no access to the Google play Store.

Thanks

Karl.

The point is that the online chat agent was responding to my original query, 'how do I access the Google play store on my existing Talk Talk TV plus box?" By offering me a new 4k box to solve the issue, he's supposed to be the expert.

Hi, the point has already been addressed by @fr8ys earlier, the 4K box is not Android based and thus does not have access to Google Play.

Karl, your avoiding the point.

Hi

This would have nothing to do with Disney directly and it is always down to each manufacturer of a device to negotiate with a broadcaster or content provider to work out any contractual issues to allow their services on a platform.

Perhaps TalkTalk should give more trading to their on line chat agents. I specifically asked why my existing TV plus box could not access Google play store and thus Disney. The agent advised that the 4k box would do this. I acknowledge that the new 4k box came free of charge but that's hardly the point if it just doesn't do what I wanted.

I still find it hard to understand that anyone using TalkTalk equipment cannot access Disney+. I wonder if Disney are aware of this.

Here's a link to a comparison table between the various boxes.

The 4k box is not an android box and as such the apps are those provided by Netgem, along similar lines to the YouView boxes.

It's not possible to add new apps yourself and is not advertised as such.

I see you have another thread on the same topic and will remove this to avoid confusion.
