Recently took out a subscription to Netflix which works fine on my phone, laptop and firestick.  However, cant get it on the TV.  Message says your plan does not support streaming on this device though when i took out the subscription I did tick the box for TV.  I took out the subscription via the Netflix website rather than through Talk Talk.  Is that the reason I cant get it on the TV?

Hi

If you start your own thread (new message), we’d love to help.

We’ve found that posting in someone else’s conversation makes it harder to follow when looking for an answer.

It’s easier and quicker if we can chat with you in a single thread, if you start your own thread, that will keep our community organised and help others with a similar problem.

Check your home phone number or account number are also added to your Community Profile as that will really help us to find your details quicker.

Thanks

Karl

Installed TV Hub box this morning and pleased to say everything works as it should including Netflix and Prime.  Thanks for the help.  How do I mark this as solved?

They have sent me a new TV hub box. Spent nearly 2 hours on text with them yesterday.   It was a marathon and I was swiftly losing the will to live by the end.  Anyway box arrived today.  Quick service. Will install it tomorrow.  My contract was renewed just a couple of months ago.

Just to clarify, its the older YouView boxes that with adverts does not work.

It does work on the 4k and TV Hub boxes, but you will probably have to recontract if you want one of those.

Talktalk is I believe promoting the basic Netflix package with ads so it must work.  They have sent me a new TV hub box but haven't installed yet.  I'll do that tomorrow and let you know how I go.  No intention of changing my Netflix plan as the others are just too expensive.

Hopefully with the new box it will work.  🤞

TalkTalk, or rather YouView are only the facilitator of the app on the box. The app is owned by Netflix. They changed the basis of their basic package to include adverts. The box hardware will not run the software required.

If you took Netflix via TalkTalk, I believe they do not sell the basic package with adverts.

I have just joined Netflix with the basic package like you it will not let me stream anything message from Netflix need to upgrade that i don't need just now. They are happy to take our money but don't mention that it only works with certain boxes even though i ticked all the correct boxes for use, i have older box that records ( very handy ) if i went through TalkTalk for Netflix would i have the same problem needing to upgrade . I have a smart tv ( pretty old now ) it just seems loads of hassle i have a firestick ( no Amazon account ) should  i use that system if that is not successful will cancel with Netflix. Looks like TalkTalk are the problem with this.

The new boxes are like your fire stick but in a box which has a tuner in. It much like what you have but with apps that are up to date and work.

Check out the Hub and 4k boxes using the link below so you can make an informed decision.

Thanks for that.  No the box I have doesn't record and you're right, ITVx doesn't work either. Not quite sure what the benefit would even be to upgrade box given it would probably cost me. What exactly would be the said benefit?

Should mention that TalkTalk no longer provide boxes that record, so if yours does it may be worth sticking with it and use your firestick.

ITVX also won't work on older boxes but will on your firestick.

But if you do want the latest box offering follow Karl's advice.

Hi

If you have a smart TV with it's own set of apps, then netflix should work from that, but to upgrade to a later box, give our teams a call and they can discuss options and offers with you - 0345 172 0088 , you may be asked to renew the contract if out of contract currently.

Thanks for that Karl. How do I upgrade the box given it is so old?  As I say, I can access it fine via my Firestick but make life a bit easier it I don't have to change input every time I want to watch it.  And definitely don't want to upgrade Netflix package.

I assume my TV is a smart one, given it's only about 3 years old.

Hi

The older boxes will not currently support Netflix With Ads, so you may need to upgrade to the latest box or if you have a smart TV, try to access from this.

Hi

It is the package with ads. But I've no notion of updating to a more expensive one.  It works fine on my firestick.   Don't know what box I have but I've had it for about 10 years so pretty old.

Hi

When you say you cannot get netflix on the TV, is this directly on your own smart TV or via a TalkTalk TV Box.

Thanks

Karl.

Which box do you have? Which Netflix plan do you have?

Not all versions of the Netflix app support the with adverts package foe example.
