Temporary Address - transfer WIFI

I am required to temporarily transfer to another flat in the same building so urgent renovation work can be carried out on my home. This is likely to be for a period of 6 weeks. Please advise if it is possible to transfer my internet/landline to the temporry flat for this period.

Hi Tango1

Ask to speak to our homemove team on  03451720088  to see how fast they can move the service to your temporary address.

Regards

If you need to use a PC and have a mobile phone that you can tether to the PC either with a cable or via a WiFi hotspot, you can always sign up with GiffGaff and buy one of their goodybags - they're relatively cheap and you're not tied into a contract.

I'm just a customer who might be able to help, not official help & support.

@Tango1, you could possibly use a dongle with your mobile provider?

See advice in this search result:

Short term home moves with Talktalk are not practical and, as well as the notice period, tie you into a new contract each time or come with a fee of £60 each time.

Better to keep the service in place even though you won't be able to make use of it and do a deal with a mobile provider for the short term.

There is no such thing as a temporary change of address.

To achieve what you wish it would mean two Home Moves and those normally require 4 weeks notice and are subject to engineer availability too, so there may be periods when you would be without service.

Thanks @Gliwmaeden2 . Would I be able to change address to the temp address and then simply change back when I move back to my perm address after 6 weeks? During the flat renovation they will be stripping out all old hot water piping and existig phone cables and replacing them. This means I would have no landline or internet available in the old flat We have to completely empty the old flat. The temp flat that I will be decanted to has been renovated and has lines in place, but would just need the line activating. So in theory, a (temporary) change of address should work.

Each flat will have separate lines for internet and landline, so your account is linked only to your specific flat, @Tango1.

It's not like just moving into another room in a house.

Depending how far your temporary flat is, you might get a faint signal from your own wifi?

Otherwise, changing flats is an address change, and there are no short term contracts to cover your situation.
