Wifi/router restarting (ADSL issues) + router upgrade needed

So recently, my router has been constantly restarting itself with the ADSL light turning off then flashing back on a few seconds later. I have noticed this is particuarly frequent during periods of rain and the hours following. (Sometimes I can't get the ADSL to register at all during these periods and the light will remain off completely)

 

I have read this may be a copper wiring problem but I guess it could also be the fact my router is maybe 10 years old and according to the TT site it needs an upgrade?

The router is on its way, please allow 24-48hrs for this to arrive.

 

Please let us know how the connection compares with the new router.

I'm sorry to hear this.

 

The line tests are clear, are you happy for me to send a replacement router for testing so we can rule this out?
