Wifi won’t connect to smart tv and separate soundbar

I’m having some issues with my wifi connection, where when I try and set up the wifi for my smart tv, I input the correct password but it says it’s incorrect.

Normally I’d think this is an issue with the tv. However, I have tried to set up my new soundbar which is a different brand and system and that says the same issue, where I put the right password but it doesn’t connect.

This means that it’s likely the router itself and it’s output/connection which is doing something. What could be causing this and how can I solve it?

Maybe this has to do with the 2.4Ghz signal as LG doesn’t support the 5Ghz one, how do I make sure only the 2.4 is sent out?

Thanks @ferguson 🙂

Just realised my iPhone XR didn’t have the compatibility to connect to the 5G. Thank you so much for your help with this issue.
I can finally watch TV again!

You can use the same wifi password across both bands, your devices should just show whether they can connect to either, or both networks e.g. TALKTALK12345, or TALKTALK123455G

@ferguson Thank you, splitting my TalkTalk Fibre 65 into two channels now means I can connect my TV to the 2.4G band.

However, I didn't change the password for the 5G band and now my wifi password doesn't work for this network for all of my other devices (phone, laptop etc.), but the same password works for the 2.4G network? Since the 5G is faster, I'd rather use this for most of my devices. Do you know why this the password doesn't work and ways to get it back working?

Just to add to the advice from @martswain it may be worth splitting the SSIDs on your router to see if that helps:

@Toby Holloway  what router do you have ?

By default all recent dual band routers broadcast both bands.

If your TV can "see" the TT SSID then the 2.4 GHz band MUST be working.

Have you reset the router by pressing the pinhole button for 30 seconds ?

Download a WiFi analyser to a dual band device and check both can be seen and are not on congested channels.

Make sure you are actually using the correct password, recent TT routers have different passwords for the WiFi and dashboard.
