Fibre upload speed decreasing

Hi, I upgraded to the fibre speed boost and it went live early August.

Everything was fine and I was getting 60+ MBps download and 20 upload.

 

A few days back, I noticed upload went down to 17, The next day, 15. The day after 12 and finally today it synced at 10. 

 

Download speed is unchanged at around 63 MBps

 

Please can you explain why the upload speed has halved (and is back to what it was before I upgraded to the fibre speed boost).

Hi, The new modem has been working well the last couple of months, connection is stable and no kernel panics.

The only thing I have noticed is that the wifi channel is automatically changed to a busy channel after a while,  even if I set the channel manually (i.e. not set to "auto").

The channel it changes it to is very busy and the channel I pick is empty.

Is there a way to stop the modem changing the wifi channel once I set it?

Thanks for letting us know. I've checked and I can see that the router firmware has now updated to the latest version.

Hi,

The new modem has arrived. I can see it's an old firmware version but I guess that will update over time. The modem synced same speed as my old one i.e. 60.0 down and 19.0 up.

Hopefully the wifi will be more stable (with no kernel panics), I'll let you know in a few days,

Hi,

As you can see from the December log, the hub is still rebooting often, sometimes several times per day. I've had no reply to my last few posts which is disappointing, the forum was a good way to progress issues but why is this issue is being ignored? 

It's causing problems particularly when working from home! It looks like there is something wrong with the hub or the software that it's running. Please can you look in to this.

No opinions on this? The hub is rebooting 1-2 times per day but the WiFi reaches all parts of the house.

However the old super router has a stable Internet connection but poor WiFi.

Will a firmware update fix the hub or is it faulty?

I have been using the HG635 ever since the problems started with the WiFi hub i.e. upload speed decreasing. 

It's been fine on the HG635 ever since, but the WiFi is not as good. So I am using the HG635 as a modem and connected it to the WiFi Hub to use it's WiFi capabiliy.

 

HG635 connection is stable:

The WiFi is more powerful on the hub when it is working, but as observed by other community members the WiFi Hub's wireless is unreliable with frequent restarts of the wireless due to kernel panic.

My WiFi hub is suffering from the same problem, as can been seen by the log below of the kernel panics since 1st November. The problem is getting worse.

Since I have had problems with the upload speed on the wifi hub, as well as kernel panics, is there a firmware update that would fix this or is the modem faulty?

Hi, 

I left the hg635 connected until Friday, there were no connection drops and speed was fast I. E. 71 down and 20 up. 

I connected the WiFi hub on Friday and the download dropped to 62 and upload remained at 20.

However on Sunday morning dlm reduced the upload to 19 with download staying at 62.

I have reconnected the hg635 and the download is now 71 but the upload remained at 19. 

I'll leave it a couple of days to see if the upload goes back to 20.

I'd probably give a couple of days with the HG635 and if the connection remains stable you could then try going back to the wifi hub

Yes the upload speed is back to normal and uploading files to one drive is fine.

I do have an hg635 connected rather than the WiFi hub. Do you think there is a problem with it or shall I try reconnecting it?

Your upstream sync speed is now back to 20Mbps, DLM changed your profile in the early hours of this morning, have you noticed a speed improvement?

Let's hold off the engineer for now.

 

I received a text from talktalk over the weekend saying the incident that caused the fault on my line has been fixed.

 

I have my old HG635 modem currently connected to see if DLM improves the upload speed on that (and it will rule out any problems with the Wifi hub). Or am I better off reconnecting the Wifi hub? I have not seen any changes in the upload profile, it's still 799.

 

Can you see any connection issues at the exchange end or will DLM now ramp up the upload speed? Since the download speed is syncing fine is it likely there is a cabling issue at home that only affects the upload? It doesn't seem very likely. Is there a way of resetting the DLM to speed up the process since the fault is now reported as fixed?

Hi

Please can you confirm if Monday afternoon is booked? In the meantime I have connected my old modem to see if dlm will change the profile using that,
