having received a letter re annual price increase it also informed that my router would no longer accept updates or security issues due to age . My point was
surely Talk talk should replace my router if out of date as we have a contract ? If the current one no longer accepts updates , how do I know I am getting my contract honoured? Router

As long as your connection is still working there is nothing to worry about. The notification is a regulatory requirement.
