Fibre900 needs eero Pro 6E or Wifi 7 router

Hello,

Can TalkTalk provide eero Pro 6E or Wifi7 router with Fibre900?

The current eero pro 6 is not capable of maintaining the fibre900 speed.

Waste of money, if customer is paying price of Fibre900 and getting speed to Fibre500.

Can someone technical from TalkTalk take a decision on this one?

Thanks!

Wired speed test on laptop connected with eero, huge disappointment.

This is the speed I have over the days; it seems an absolute waste of money on Fiber900:

@iNFAMOUS1

The eero 6 Pro  is capable of handling Fibre 900 connections, I have one and it has peaked at around 800Mbps.

You have posted on an old and dormant thread, if you want further help from the support team please start your own topic.

Completely agree 👍

Had tech just supply me with new eero pro to resolve my issue but they just don't listen as told them this is a known issue with eero 6 models not able to provide more than 480mb at best over WiFi...

Something needs to be done for us 900mb customers 😒

Thanks. Speed test results look fine from our side. Could you try switching wifi off on a device and then switch it back on with the device near the gateway eero and then run a speed test on fast.com (on the same device). Please let us know how you get on

Hi @KeithFrench ,

Symmetric and asymmetric speed is understandable. But this much fluctuation is unacceptable.

From ONT to eero is normal cable came with eero that shows 940/111 speed.

I have CAT8 connected from eero's second port to my laptop directly (nothing in between).

1) ONT <----- Ethernet Cable ----> eero Pro6 (eth01) = Speed 940/111

2) Laptop <----- CAT 8 -----> eero (eth02) = Speed 600-700/70-111

My concern is only the directly connected laptop with the eero not wireless. I checked on two windows laptops and one macbook and speed is so poor at times. I understand wireless has it's own drawbacks. But my wireless shows good Physical layer speed of 1.1Gbps connectivity on Wireless Adaptor properties.

@KeithFrench

Check out the earlier posts: wired speeds falling far below sync rates shown in eero.

Hi @bitrate

I would guess that your fibre 900 was provided by Openreach. If so, an upload speed of 111M is about right, they offer 900/111 from memory. They are not like CityFibre, which offers symmetrical speeds of 900/900. For example, on my FF 150 from CityFibre, I get 150/152 most of the time in the eero app. Is the Cat 8 cable just between the router & ONT, or is it between the Ethernet port on the router and an Ethernet device, with or without a switch in between? Which connection type is slow, wired or wireless, or are they both as bad as each other? What speeds are you actually getting on a wireless device?

Keith

Thanks @ferguson .

This is connecting laptop directly with ONT and speed results are not better.

After the above test I connected back eero to ONT and test through the eero app see the below result. Looking at the results it seems that these speed numbers are hard coded and show between 930-940 and upload is always 111 😀

@Chris-TalkTalk This is not right. There are some issue in the line may be.

This is with eero Pro 6 over ethernet with TalkTalk. Try connecting a wired device directly to the the LAN port on the ONT and see what speed you get then.

Hi @ferguson

Correct, I have same expectation of at least 900Mbps. But its no where near.

Can you please share information about:

Are you with TalkTalk, if not then which service provider?

What router you have?

Were you connected with cable to router directly while this speedtest?

Thanks!

That's odd. I would expect to see wireless results at around that level. But not wired, this is what I get:

Today I have Cat8 Ethernet cable delivered. I was hopping that this will change things but no difference. I just tested it and still the same.

Upload is even worse. Download varies massively from 300 to 650ish something.

speedtest02speedtest02

Speedtest right now from eero pro 6 itself.

speedtest03speedtest03

The only solution is better router is required. I myself working in the industry. So I know what is the issue.

Hi bitrate,

If you'd like us to take a look at your speeds can you please update your community profile to include your:

  • Name
  • Telephone number
  • Alternative contact number

We'll then look into this further. Please do not post this information on this thread. Once you've updated your profile please post in your topic to confirm it's updated.

Thanks

Chris
