I can't connect to wifi as the wifi light on the router is not lit, so no wifi, when it is lit there is no problem connecting with a phone.

Hi

If you are trying to connect over wifi from a phone, always try a different browser, I find Opera browser is useful for testing.

I have a very old desktop that I will try, but the software is really old and I hope the browser will allow me to connect to the router.

No, That didn't work, I have a feeling that I need to connect a computer to the router with a cat5 cable, but I no longer have a computer with a cat5 port.

Hi

Have you tried a pin reset of the router - hold a pin or paperclip in the reset hole at the back for 10 seconds and this will fully reset the router.

Lat me know if this helps.
