Hi, my husband passed away last year and TalkTalk have just managed to transfer ownership of the account to me. This morning I had a letter addressed to my husbands executor (which is me) saying that a refund is due from his account. Only problem is this account has been closed on the system so I can’t simply go into MyAccount and request it.  Can you help please?

It depends on when the credit was transferred over, direct debit are requested a few days before the they are claimed, but even if the full amount is taken,  that will leave the account in credit that can be refunded or left against the next bill.

Hi, @Arne-TalkTalk

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. So when I check my bank account after DD has been taken it should only be for £14.13 this time?

@Vonney The bill does not update the amount to be taken is the amount showing in the box at the top, your direct debit is active you dont need to make a one off payment

Hi @Arne-TalkTalk

ive just checked MyAccount and when I go into my bills.

its showing in a box at the top £14.13 ( which is the difference between the credit from my husbands account and my Sept bill) But below it it says make a card payment.  Then below that is the bill for Sept for £36.34 which will be taken by direct debit.

i clicked on the pay by card option for the lower amount and there’s a message saying paying this will not reduce your direct debit this will still be taken as normal!!!

Looks like moving the credit to my account hasn’t worked properly. I’ll DM some screenshots for you to see.

cheers,

yvonne

Happy to help.   I think as the community is now linked to My Account the old username will be attached to the old account.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused

Thanks ever so much @Arne-TalkTalk. You’re really helpful as always.

you helped me a great deal last year when my husband died - I was on here as Vonney then. But had to set up a new user name when bereavement team sorted out an account in my name.
