I am asking this on behalf of an elderly relative who is interested to know what happens during copper phone line switch off.
If this person is in TalkTalk contract for Fibre 35 (not full fibre) and Open Reach switch off copper when part-way through her TT contract, what happens next. Will she have to pay for the change of wire rig-up & new box in order to keep the service? And is Open Reach dealing with pole to outer box and then TT from outer box to inside house? Or some other combo between OpenR and TT?
{She is nr end of contract and is deciding on carrying on out of contract or taking out a 24-mth one}
Thanks.

Hi EveFTTalk
Once the cooper turn off is confirmed, (at the moment its is not set) providers will contact customers with plenty of time to arrange a full fibre installation with Voip if required, this is a free upgrade as the copper service cannot be retained.

Also, make sure that she is recorded as elderly, @EveFTTalk:

The single most important thing is to ask to keep the Talktalk phone number so order this at the same time, or when accepting an offer.
This must be done via Chat or Phone Call as ordering via My Account or online anywhere else will NOT include the use of the phone number, and it can't be recovered or added later, @EveFTTalk.

If Openreach organise a switch off of copper mid contract, they can't just leave her in the lurch, but it's better to organise this at a time of her choosing. It might not even be an Openreach infrastructure in her area, @EveFTTalk.
Might be City Fibre or another 3rd party.
So she should contact them and ask. Contracts are not set up via the forum.
