Restricted mode turned on by your network administrator to help hide potentially mature videos...This is the message I'm getting on YouTube which means I can't view some videos via my smart TV or smartphone when connected to TalkTalk Wi-Fi. This is causing problems because some videos are unavailable for me to watch. I'm not talking about "adult" videos, just clean music videos that don't contain nudity or bad language.
I've switched off Kidsafe on my TalkTalk account but that hasn't solved the problem. Why is restricted mode switched on? I didn't ask for it to be switched on and I'm not a child, I'm 49.
Please can someone tell me how to fix this. Thank you.

Yep, working again for me too.

This appears to be fixed now for me, thanks

An incident has been raised, @kahooma, as explained to many others.
Posting on multiple threads won't speed it up, I'm afraid.

I have done some extensive testing and turning on any aspect of Home Safe causes YouTube to go into Restricted Mode. This means that, in order to use YouTube properly and watch the current, up-to-date videos that I need to watch for my job, I have to leave my home network and child open to all of the dangers of the internet. This needs to be fixed ASAP. It is definitely TalkTalk and the Home Safe settings that are causing this. When I turn off Kids Safe, it works. When I turn it back on with any setting, including allowing YouTube, it turns on Restricted Mode.

has there been any update on this. on all devices connecte to talktalk router via wifi , youtube is on restricted mode. but the TV which is connected via ethernet to the router, youtube displays comments and is not resitricted. its kinda strange that via ethernet it works and not via wifi.

Same issue here. 3 separate YouTube users in the house cannot view comments or safe videos via Talk talk WiFi, but can if we switch to different mobile data providers. This is clearly an issue caused by Talk talk. If this is not resolved in a timely fashion, I will be looking at switching as soon as I am out of contact.

This has been going on for the last three days now. It is not only effecting youtube videos but also live streams on youtube. I am going to a different provider after having been with TalkTalk for over ten years. It also does not hep that the live chatbots are all but dumb (certainly not "first class") but also because it's practically impossible to get through to anyone over the telephone. The automated services give random options that are irrelevant and hang up. It wasn't like this in the past.

No it hasn’t and talktalk don’t want to know. I have complained to the executive care team for a response . Their only solution was to turn off kidsafe . Scam protection and use google dns servers. Really poor service

@Azomali, as Debbie-TalkTalk didn't post again, assume that she's not heard anything back.
It will be after the weekend now, unless people notice it's resolved meanwhile anyway.

Has this been resolved? I've had this issue for over a week and only on Talktalk WiFi. I've turned off spam setting but nothing has changed. I cant see some of the videos or comments in YouTube.

Hi ,
Ive sent an email with regards to this to the Talktalk Exec team. this is most definately an issue with Talktalk and not a youtube setting. my tv connected to the TT router can display comments, but any devices connected to wifi , youtube is in restricted mode. i would like to keep the parental control setting on, turning this off allows the comments to be displayed. can you please fix this ASAP.

Hello there,
Not to sure, if this was sorted or not, but after disabling "Scam Protection" didn't worked.
I assume this issue is still being looked at?
Thanks.
